Course description

This group of short modules is designed to equip student with an in-depth understanding of issues behind current controversies in economics and finance. The modules are intended to help students familiarize with contemporary academic research and assist them in the selection of their area of specialization. The modules involve: i) reading academic papers and participating proactively in class discussion; ii) developing academic reading skills and promote critical thinking skills; iii) deepen the knowledge of a selection of topics in economics and finance. Lectures of each module are mandatory for first-year PhD students, while optional for second- and third-year PhD students.

Timetable

Each module can last 3 to 6 hours and will take place in the summer term (May-June). The final timetable will be given throughout the year.

Examinations

Candidates will be required to complete specific assignments in selected modules
